The Founder

Dr Shaikh, administrator, educationist, scholar, poet, activist and social reformer, joined the civil services on 15th August, 1940. He was amongst the senior most IAS officers of independent India.

Essentially a visionary, he had the rare ability to bring in his considerable administrative skills, indomitable will, boundless energy and courage of conviction to transform his dreams into reality.

Ever ready to take up the cause of the underprivileged, he symbolised a world of high idealism and high principles.

‘I long to see the magic mystery strange … Still longs my soul with nature to repose, Each morn, each eve as she holds forth a full-blown rose’ wrote Dr. Shaikh in his poem forty years ago.

While Dr. Shaikh’s soul may now rest in tranquil repose, his idealism lives.
